Super Sunny Seattle Sweekend

Yes, I realize 'weekend' doesn't start with 's', but I needed to make it work! We had a wonderful weekend.
Friday was a beautiful day. After school/work, Henry and Eric drove down to Tacoma CRCC and Carla and I met them there. Traffic was a pain. It took us an hour to get to church and it usually takes us half the time. Carla and I made the best of it though. Pastor Clay wrote a play called 'Rebel Without a Clause'. It was a spoof about James Dean. He ended up going back to his small town and making sausages. Get it? Jimmy Dean!! :D It was cute. Henry and I agreed that last years play was better. We'll see how next years goes. We had meatloaf and a potato dish at the play. It was ok. It's tough to feed a lot of people with limited kitchen stuff. I wasn't really impressed. I know Mama H would have done way better! I'm looking VERY much forward to Mom's cooking in July! The play ended fairly late so we came home and called it a night.
Saturday morning Henry left early with Eric and Carla to go golfing. Henry's really getting into golfing again. He bought some new irons this spring, so I guess he should make it worth it! I slept in and then did some stuff on our new Wii video game! Exercising seems more fun when I'm competing a video game. :) Harriet picked me up a little after 10am and we went into Seattle to Pike Place Market to a street fair that was going on there. It was a BEAUTIFUL day! About 75 degrees and a gentle breeze coming off the ocean. There were vendors and lots of good foods and stuff to look at and buy. there were lots of people there! We got some stonefired pizza and listened to some live bands for lunch. We were thinking about going shopping after walking around at the fair for about 3 hours, but I think the sun zapped the energy out of us. Instead we decided to go get pedicures. A much better plan! We had a lot of fun. After the nail salon we went and got some steaks to grill. We came home and Henry grilled the steaks. We had good Montana baby red potatoes, broccoli, and pears and cottage cheese. It was delicious! And perfect for a nice night. After dinner we all went to the mall to see the movie 'Up'. Vip met us there, so that was fun. The movie was very cute. It was a very fun day! We all got quite a bit of sun and I should have put on some sunscreen! I doubt anyone is shocked at me forgetting sunscreen and getting burnt. Oh well.
Today we got up early and went to the 9 o'clock service. Pastor Rod preached and it was a good service. After church we went to a little cafe with Dave and Linda, Eric and Carla, Jay and Verna, and their daughter Rebecca and her boyfriend Travis. We had lunch there. It was cafe food. Kind of greasy, but good! We came home and took some solid Sunday afternoon naps. Henry watched the Mariners throw away their win (there was anger). We had to pick up some things for dinners this week so we made a little trip to Safeway and B&E Meats. It was a fun little trip. We came home and I made a big batch of Carbonara, Henry's favorite. He had it for dinner and I put it into containers for him to take for lunches this week. We took Chief out. Now we're watching 'Night at the Museum' on T.V. Quite the exciting day! We hope you're all healthy and happy wherever you may be! We love you much and pray for you often!

Day Numero Uno

After reading a few blogs of people who I like, I decided I would make my own so that family and friends from far away could be a bit more connected. I like the idea of it, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep it up. We'll just have to see.

The latest development in the Vander Pol household is the addition of our new little Wii! We had talked about getting a Wii quite a few times, and we finally went out and bought one a few nights ago. We also got Mario Kart, and Wii Fit. So far, we LOVE IT! Henry and I have made 'goals' and have, so far, been playing games and doing activities on it every night. We'll also see how long that lasts.

After pondering what to write about, I've decided that I should probably get some work done here at school. I have posters that need to be taken down, grades that need to be recorded and posted, and a teest to make. Life is hectic when your T.A. is off in Spokane running in a State Trackmeet (Run fast Lexi!)!

So, perhaps I will write more. I'm determined to write an entry about my newfound, favorite pencil sharpener! There are strange things that excite teachers! :)

Until later...
